Having never really visited lancashire inland before, we were winding our way down country lanes in bright sunshine dodging the showers and following canals heading towards Glasson basin Marina to interview a new yacht brokerage business which is really making a difference.

Simon Hall and his yacht brokerage team started only one year ago and already he has over 90 boats for sale of all types. Lancashire is an exciting boating area and has a great mix of boats, its network of canals, inland lakes in Cumbria, blue water cruisers and large motor cruisers than can jet over to the Isle of Man for a weekend of exploring.

We walked upstairs to Boatshed Lancashire office and could hear Simon on the phone to one of his clients finalising details of a boat sale, so we hovered quietly until he was free. With a strong handshake and business like kind manner he welcomed us to his office. What a view, his office overlooks lots of boats "on the hard" and the boats bobbing around in the marina. The wind was whistling through the rigging and there were a few small white capped wavelets on the marina from a brisk south westerly wind, but at least the sun was shining.

Simon covers the area Lancashire and Cumbria including the marinas below and is looking to recruit more team members to assist him in his busy Boat Sales business.
Glasson Basin Marina, Galgate Marina, White Bear (all BWML marinas)
Fleetwood
Mary Port
Preston Marina
White Haven
Windermere, Ullswater & Bowness lakes

Listening to Simon it's obvious that he loves the new lifestyle being around people and boats, plus with his business background he has some great innovative ideas on how to work with the existing marine community so that everyone benefits.

When it comes to selling boats he tells me about what he does for every boat that comes onto his books... the Boatshed Lancashire team will fully photograph, video and record the full boat spec so that buyers can see what the boat looks like online before they travel to see it. The full information for each listing means that only profiled customers come and view the boat (because they can see warts an' all online). Each boat has an average of 2.2 customer viewings before a boat is sold, that's a pretty good statistic.

For his business management tool he uses the Boatshed Dashboard to run his boats for sale. With the CRM tools he can match buyers with the boats saving time all round.

Simon explained the advantage of being in the Boatshed Group is that if a customer is looking for a boat, then if he hasn't got a particular type of boat he'll contact one of the Boatshed Brokers who has and he's happy that that customer will be taken care with the same care & attention that he would give the customer.

Boatshed Lancashire is part of the Boatshed.com Yacht Brokerage group which has over 50 locations world-wide, selling over 1000 boats each year.
